Frog for Breakfast!
An old proverb states, “If the first thing you do when you get up in the morning
is eat a live frog then nothing worse can happen to you that day!”
Brian Tracy, in his Eat That Frog!, says that the frog is the most difficult thing on your to do list.
And if you refuse to procrastinate today and just eat the frog up front, the victory is yours and
it will motivate you to do many other tasks as the day progresses. Put it off, however, and
the frog stares you in the face all day and drains you of precious energy and keeps you from
moving forward in other areas as well!
So what’s your workplace frog?
Most frogs are ugly, have protruding eyes, are covered in warts, and are really slimy. No wonder
we avoid such tasks or responsibilities at work or wherever…who wants to deal with something
that gross or un-fun?! But if you know you really need to do it or are going to have to take care
of that matter at some point in time, then just do it! Do it now. Eat the frog.
And once it is over, you can go on with the rest of your day. Not everything in life is enjoyable
but with Christ as your Helper, you can find still find joy in doing those things at work that really
are undesirable. Your employer is paying you to take care of the froggy matters, too!
Today’s Workplace Challenge:
Select Frog from this morning’s workplace breakfast menu.
Eat it and move on!
Imagine how enjoyable and appreciative you will be of lunch after a breakfast like that!
Eating frog is not a desired thing, but a matter of discipline. So eat up.
“Poverty and shame will come to him who neglects discipline, but he who regards reproof will
be honored.” (Prov. 13:18) And remember, ketchup on anything makes it better!
